How to set trailing stop on mt4
A trailing stop moves your stop-loss automatically as a trade goes in your favour, locking in profit while giving the trade room to run. It's the method we recommend for wider Red signals.
Set it in three steps
- Open the trade with its stop-loss and take-profit already set (use TP3 as the final target).
- In the Terminal → Trade tab, right-click the open position and choose Trailing Stop.
- Pick a distance in points, or choose Custom… to type your own. MT4 trails the stop that many points behind price as it moves your way.
How to trail an FxErvin signal
- At TP1, move your stop halfway toward entry.
- At TP2, move your stop to the entry price — the trade can no longer lose.
- Let the remainder run toward TP3.
Important: MT4's trailing stop only runs while the platform is open and connected. To trail around the clock, leave MT4 running or use a VPS.
