Types of graphs for Forex market analysis

Price charts are how traders read the market at a glance. The three most common forex chart types — line, bar and candlestick — show the same prices in increasing detail, and candlesticks are what most traders (and FxErvin analysts) use.

Line chart

The simplest view: a single line connecting closing prices. Great for seeing the overall trend, but it hides what happened during each period.

Bar chart (OHLC)

Each bar shows four prices for the period — Open, High, Low, Close. More information than a line, but harder to scan quickly.

Candlestick chart

The same OHLC data drawn as a "candle": a body between the open and close, with wicks to the high and low. A filled/red body means price fell; a hollow/green body means it rose. Candlesticks make momentum and reversals easy to spot, which is why they're the default for most analysis.

Which to use

Start with candlesticks. Once you can read them, learn support, resistance and trend — or skip the analysis entirely and trade our ready-made signals.
